MINUTES OF BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
MARCH 16, 2004


CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by President Bob Fernander at 2:00 PM in the Lakeside Club, at The Landings Racquet Club, Sarasota, Florida.

DETERMINATION OF A QUORUM
Present were Bob Fernander, Judy Greene, Jack Jost, Barbara Pendrell, Ralph Ricapito, Jere Berkey and Colin Wendell. Also present was Kevin Richards, LRC Manager and Robbie Salum, LRC Director of Tennis.

CONFIRMATION OF PROPER MEETING NOTICE
The notice for the meeting was posted in accordance with the By-laws of the Association and requirements of Florida Statutes.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion was made and seconded to accept the minutes of the February 17, 2004 meeting of the Board of Directors.
Each director present voted in favor of the motion. Motion passed.

NEW BUSINESS
There was considerable discussion between Landings residents and the Board regarding offering memberships to the LRC to Phillippi Landings residents. This was a recommendation brought to the Board by the Tennis Committee at the February meeting and was briefly discussed - but no action taken. A committee may be established to discuss a way to integrate LRC members into what the Board is thinking.

TREASURERS REPORT
Treasurer Jere Berkey and LRC Manager Kevin Richards met with Orion Bank to transfer LRC accounts from Premier Bank. Premier Bank is not coming through with level of service they said they would provide. Orion Bank is willing to work with us.
A motion was made and seconded to move LRC accounts from Premier to Orion.
Each director present voted in favor of the motion. Motion passed.
Jere Berkey reported that the annual audit is ongoing and the club is in good shape financially.

MANAGERS REPORT
Kevin Richards reported that monthly court maintenance was performed March 11-13, 2004. LRC staff continues work on repair and repainting of the short fencing. Slow process which is being accomplished in house. Both sides of fencing on courts 3,4,7,and 8 have been completed. Now working on middle short fences between those courts. De-fib and CPR class is scheduled for Monday, March 22ND. Cost is $175.00 and can have up to eight (8) people. Two (2) from the LRC Staff will attend leaving six (6) spaces for LRC members. The club is in dire need of a new golf/work cart. Kevin Richards will look into the purchase. Hand rails going down to the pool area have been painted white to match the vinyl fencing. Carpets in both clubhouses have been cleaned.

COMMITTEE REPORTS
POOL AND SPA         
Running smoothly.

SOCIAL PROGRAM
Planning a golf outing in April, 20TH Anniversary party for LRC April 18, pool party in May. Judy Greene has volunteered to head the social committee. Future events will be planned.

LANDSCAPING
Current phase complete and lighting in the parking lot being finalized.

TENNIS
Club Championships will be underway the third week in March. Singles matches have been cancelled. Good response to men's and ladies doubles and mixed doubles. Party to be held Sunday, April 4, 2004. Robbie Salum will be holding a summer camp May 24 - June 30, 2004 for ages 5-12, 12:30 to 4:30 Monday through Friday. Cost is $150.00 per week. He will have an assistant and certified lifeguard. Robbie is also organizing a tennis video library. As there is a shortage of tennis players during the summer a file of players of all levels will be made available. Play will be non prime time on a reciprocal basis if guest is from another club. Must have at least two (2) LRC members playing.

FITNESS CENTER/LIBRARY
Complaints that fitness center equipment is not cleaned/dusted enough. Will be done several times a week.

HOUSE
Running smoothly.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:50 PM.
